Shane K. Penrod is the founder and senior strategist at PPC & Co, a Tampa-based paid search and SEO agency working nationwide. He has been in the web business since 1997, starting in colocation and hosting, has done SEO since 2000 and paid search since 2012, and is a 2015 Google Partners All-Stars winner. He built the method every account here runs on and writes every guide on this site.
Background
Shane started on the infrastructure side of the web. In 1997 he was in colocation and web hosting, running sales for a hosting company, and the customers who signed up kept asking the same question: now that the site is live, how do people find it? Answering that question became the job.
2000. Started doing SEO for hosting clients, when the work was still directories and early PageRank.
2006. Co-founded a second hosting company after the first was acquired, and kept building and ranking sites for its customers.
2012. Opened his first Google Ads account for a client who needed leads faster than organic could deliver. He has run paid search every day since, much of it as the white-label performance desk behind other agencies. When someone else's name is on the report, the numbers are the only thing that keeps the client.
2014. Built the first landing page and Google Ads campaign for a personal injury legal brand, then ran its paid search for eight years across multiple markets, growing to multiple six figures a month at peak, and took its Google reviews from a handful of bad ones to several hundred at a 4.8 average.

2015. Google named the Tampa agency where Shane built and ran every Google Ads account a Google Partners All-Stars winner, and flew the winners to its Mountain View headquarters for a three-day summit with its product teams and engineers. More on All-Stars.
Since then. Paid search and local programs across hundreds of franchise locations for a single brand, local page programs for two national franchise systems, and enterprise accounts in legal, industrial and SaaS as a senior strategist inside a national agency. He also built the reporting platform that PPC & Co's client dashboards run on, which is the base for its custom AI tools work.
2025. Launched PPC & Co, built on tracking and landing pages as the foundation, transparent reporting on top, and AI giving a senior team the production capacity of a large agency.
Why PPC & Co
Shane has worked on every part of what makes a site and a marketing program perform: the hosting underneath it, the site itself, organic search, paid search, and the reporting that shows whether any of it worked. Across every industry and budget size, one thing held true. When tracking and landing pages are right, everything built on top of them performs better. When they're wrong, no amount of budget or bid strategy fixes it.
That's where PPC & Co starts. Every engagement begins with the foundation: conversion tracking that records the leads and sales that matter, and landing pages built for the searches behind them. From there the team builds the paid and organic programs and reports on them plainly, showing what changed, why it changed, and what effect it had on leads and revenue. Clients see the same numbers the team sees.
Most accounts that come in are missing something, whether it's tracking that doesn't record real conversions, pages that don't match the ads, or reports nobody can act on. The team has spent years finding those gaps, setting up what's needed and getting it launched, so a new client isn't paying for anyone to learn on their account.
The timing matters too. Large agencies used to win on production capacity, with more designers, copywriters and developers to build pages and creative. AI has closed that gap. A smaller, senior team can now match them on creative, landing pages and reporting, at the same speed, with experienced people making every call. PPC & Co was built for that moment.
