Shopping ads and feed management

Shopping wins or loses in the feed, before an ad is shown.

Google Shopping, Merchant Center and product feed optimization. Vehicle listing ads for dealers, Shopping and Performance Max for retailers, local inventory ads for stores. Managed by a senior strategist.

Google Shopping shows your products, with price and image, at the top of results for product searches. Unlike Search, there are no keywords to bid on; Google matches searches to your product feed, so the feed is the campaign. We manage Shopping for auto dealers, furniture and rent-to-own retailers and e-commerce stores, and most of the work happens in Merchant Center, not in Google Ads.

Why most Shopping accounts underperform

The feed was exported once from the website or the DMS and never touched. Titles are the manufacturer's part name, not what people search. Attributes are missing, so products don't qualify for the searches that matter. Everything sits in one campaign with one bid, so a $30 item and a $3,000 item are treated the same. Fixing the feed usually does more than any bidding change.

What we do

  • Feed build and repair. Titles rewritten to match search language (brand, model, key attribute, size), full attribute coverage, image compliance, GTIN and identifier fixes, disapprovals cleared.
  • Campaign structure by margin and intent. Priority tiers so brand searches, best-sellers and clearance each get their own bids. Standard Shopping where control matters, Performance Max where scale matters.
  • Local inventory ads for stores, so a search near your location shows what's on the shelf.
  • Vehicle listing ads for dealers, with inventory feeds from the DMS, new and used split, and model-level landing pages. Auto dealers.
  • Merchant Center health watched weekly: policy flags, price mismatches and feed errors caught before they suspend the account.
  • Reporting at product and category level, not just campaign totals. Reporting.

Shopping vs Performance Max for retail

Performance Max with a feed is now the default Google pushes, and for large catalogs it works. But it hides search terms and product-level decisions. We typically run Standard Shopping for the products and searches that carry the business, and let Performance Max fill the long tail, with brand searches excluded from PMax so it can't take credit for people who were already coming.

What it costs

Included in PPC management; the percentage applies to Shopping spend. Feed build and Merchant Center cleanup is part of onboarding. Feed management for stores with large or frequently changing catalogs is quoted. Pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an e-commerce site to run Shopping?
Not necessarily. Local inventory ads and vehicle listing ads can send people to a product or model page that leads to a call or a visit.
Can you fix a suspended Merchant Center?
Usually. Most suspensions are policy issues (misrepresentation, missing return or contact info) that are fixable within a week once someone reads the actual reason.
Do you manage the feed tool?
Yes, whether that's a native platform export, a DMS feed, or a feed manager like DataFeedWatch or Feedonomics.
